Film Club, the newest addition to Mercy’s plethora of clubs, has had a successful turnout for their first two showings of Moonrise Kingdom and The Nightmare Before Christmas during their November and December showtimes. Around 15 students came to each showing.
The Film Club has cinema showings throughout the school year, the last one in May. There is absolutely no fee required and snacks will be provided. All that is asked from the club moderator, social studies and English teacher, Ms. Abigail Youngerman, is that students sign up using the Google document so there is an estimate of how many students will attend.
The November meeting was the first official gathering of Film Club. The American romantic comedy-drama was enjoyed especially by Junior Rose Dyar.
“I love Film Club,” said Junior Rose Dyar.
The December meeting featured The Nightmare Before Christmas. After the movie, students discussed the techniques of claymation and animation, in particular, and watched a video about the process of claymation and animation from start to finish.
The next film is scheduled for mid-January meeting but the choice of film has not yet been decided.
