Spotted: Panera near Mercy

On Telegraph road, a Panera Bread still under construction is now in site.
On Telegraph road, a Panera Bread still under construction is now in site.

If you walk into Mercy’s Media Center in the morning, you will find a collection of Starbucks and Tim Horton’s cups sitting on the student tables next to unfinished homework and opened laptops and iPads. Soon, you will likely see a new addition of Panera Bread cups, sitting right alongside the macchiatos and iced caps.

As some may know, a new “Panera Bread” sign has been spotted not too far from school. If close attention is paid, one can also see the “Drive Thru” sign right underneath it. Yes, that’s right, a Panera Bread drive-thru is bound to make many students happy.

“I’m really excited that this Panera is opening because I can stop there quickly before school,” said junior Casey Lewry. “I think it’s a really good addition to this area and they’ll see a lot of Mercy students.”

Currently, the inside is under construction and the outside appearance of the restaurant is nearly finished. Panera is expected to open its doors just in time for the New Year.

To get there from Mercy, take 11 Mile Road east to  Telegraph, then make a left. Just before 12 Mile, the new Panera Bread will be on the right hand side of the road.

“Panera is my favorite!” said junior Lindsay Webster. “Now my friends and I can go there after school to eat and have study sessions.”
