Mercy High School’s Track and Field Team competed against Grosse Point South Saturday. Although they did not receive 1st place their loss bears no shame.
Junior Heather Smith placed in the top three in her 800m and 1600m races. Her 400X800m relay team, which includes juniors Mary Haapala and Teagan Dillion and freshman Mackenzie Elkow, placed second.
In the 400m dash Francesca Sovis placed 3rd. Although some members who participated in the field events were injured, Mercy still had an honorary showing.
“Grosse Point South is really good,” said sophomore Celeste White.
