Mercy’s Junior Classical League (JCL) kicked off their three-day annual Salmagundi bake sale in the north alcove in early December.

Students taking Latin were asked to bring in various food items varying from chocolate covered pretzels and puppy chow, to cupcakes and candy. Several students even created handmade purses, bags, and candles.

The profit made from the bake sale goes toward buying materials for club activities and snacks.

On Dec. 10,  JCL hosted their annual Christmas party centered on the theme of Saturnalia, an ancient Roman festival in honor of the Roman god Saturn.

JCL members were asked to pick random names out of a box and create a Christmas ornament for the person they chose.  Later on, participants were given snacks as part of the celebration of Saturnalia.
