The Spring 2011 Ready to Wear collections provided plenty of make-up choices to try. Bright lips, bare faces, and neon eye shadows were seen throughout many collections. However, some of these options should be left on the runway, such as the striking gold lips seen at Rodarte in New York City.

The collection, inspired by the Redwoods in California, was a hit at Fashion Week. Despite the collection’s success, the make-up was something Ke$ha would wear. This is definitely not a look any one should try.

“I think the gold lipstick looks ridiculous,” said junior Alex Abowd after trying out this look herself. “I would definitely save this lipstick for Halloween.”

Word to the wise: leave the gold lipstick at home, especially if you’re looking for your future homecoming date. Try a gold-tinted lip gloss instead, such as Yves Saint Laurent’s shimmering lip gloss in Gold Amber.
