Mercy’s production of Frozen is here!

Mercy High School’s production of the Broadway musical Frozen opened this weekend on Friday, March 15 at 7:30 pm with performances following on Saturday March 16 at 7:30 pm and Sunday March 17 at 2 pm. The shows continue the following weekend March 22-24, at the same times and days of the week.

Mercy High School is the first school in Michigan to have the rights to the Frozen production and hopes to do the movie-show phenomenon justice.

Senior Kierah Streather portrays Anna in the show and has big ambitions.

“Elsa’s dress and all the costumes are really cool and definitely a step up from all of Mercy’s other productions,” Streather said.

Since this special production of Frozen is the only of its kind in Michigan, many different aspects of costumes, special effects, and the musical as a whole are influenced by not only Mercy students and staff, but others from the United States of Frozen.

”I’ve really loved making new friends on set and the whole show has been amazing to be a part of,” Streather said.

Senior Addison Abraham is a member of the moving crew for Frozen.

“The best part in participating in the play is definitely watching everyone collaborate and watching the special effects come together. The dress being taken off was amazing and everyone was cheering and it was so exciting to see it all, it was very special,” Abraham said.

Students of all grade levels and experience in theater participate in this production, and it is inclusive of all kinds of audiences as well.

“Frozen is great family fun!” sophomore Arya Agulto, a cast member of Frozen, said.

She recommends that everyone comes to see the show.

This production is the perfect way to spend the night as family, as it is a show that all ages can enjoy!
