Mercy Varsity Bowling Wins 6th Place in Regionals

The Mercy Varsity Bowling team competed in regionals on February 22. After training for many months and competing in numerous tournaments, the bowling team worked hard to prepare for this day.

Being a part of Division 1 Region 6, MVB placed 6th out of 13 teams. Each team is put into a division determined by their size, and then put into a region based on their location. U of D Jesuit’s team was also placed in the same division and region.

Mercy’s best regular game ended with a score of 840, while the best baker game was 218. A “regular game” is a game in which each team member bowls 10 frames, and the score is totaled by adding together each members’ final score. A “baker game” is one 10 frame game that is played by multiple team members.

Being split into two days, the regionals for individuals occurred the day after the team regionals. At the individuals, junior Arianna Watson was the highest placed on the team, earning 21st place out of 74 girls. Watson’s best individual game was 214.

The MVB team had great successes this year, and hopes to do even better next season.
