The members of the Junior Classical League (JCL) are beginning to prepare for Salmagundi, their annual fundraiser, which will be held in the south alcove Dec. 6-7.

Salmagundi is not a bake sale. While some treats, such as puppy chow and chocolate pretzels, are commonly sold here, many people are drawn to the other featured goods, which differ each year. In the past, JCL members have made bows, ornaments, posters, candles, and more.

“A lot of students like that it’s a different kind of fundraiser,” said JCL officer senior Ellie Janitz. “It’s something they look forward to each year.”

Every JCL member contributes in some way, whether by making items or running the fundraiser during an off hour. The five officers of the club have also created posters to advertise the event, and will decorate the tables. This year, the officers decided to add a raffle to win a basket filled with relaxation products, including Lush bath bombs, shower gel, and lotion. Students and staff can buy tickets for a chance to win during Salmagundi.

“We wanted to try something new this year to shake things up a bit,” said Janitz. “We hope people will be excited about it, too.”
