
Members of Mercy’s orchestra competed at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra State Solo and Ensemble Saturday at Harrison High School in Farmington Hills. After receiving division 1 ratings at the district level in February, the students advanced to the state level.
“All of our girls received medals this last Saturday at State Solo and Ensemble,” said orchestra teacher Marianne Corrigan. “I am so proud!”
The orchestra sent five performances to the state level. The trio, made of Elise Scarchilli, Lydia Gier, and Katie Schubert, received a division 2 rating. Gier and Sarah Maxey received also received a division 2 rating for their flute/clarinet duet. Kaela Brown and Schubert received a division 2 rating for their flute/clarinet duet, and Nia Boone and Theresa Walle received a division 2 rating for their cello duet.
