Mercy’s International Thespian Society Troupe 5693 held their fall induction and awards ceremony in the Drama Studio September 30th. The Class of 2014 and Class of 2015 current members were awarded stars based on their work for the previous year, and new seniors, juniors, and one sophomore were inducted into the troupe. The point system is established by ITS, and the directors award the points to each individual member.
The induction opened when the Mercy ITS president, senior Lana Grasser, welcomed parents, inductees, and new members to the celebration. Grasser and vice president, senior Amelia Fanelli, said the prayer of Saint Genesius, patron saint of theater. Mrs. Anne Eddy and Mrs. Kathleen Sill talked about the origins of ITS and theater, and then the new members were given a red rose and ITS certificate to welcome them into the troupe. The ceremony concluded after all members said the ITS pledge during a candle ceremony.
Troupe members will work throughout the school year to earn more points by participating in the fall play, haunted house, spring musical, and other major events. [wzslider]
