Volunteer in the New Year

Need to catch up on your service hours next semester? Volunteering with Mercy Works may be the right option for you! There will be at least eight more opportunities to serve the retired Sisters of Mercy at McAuley Center next door.

If you’ve participated in Mercy Works before, you know what to expect. Usually students will go there, chat with the Sisters, and play bingo. This semester, however, things are getting mixed up a bit. In addition to playing games with the sisters, students will also have the opportunity to show off their artistic side while painting and making crafts. Also, each student can be “assigned” a sister, and help her out with little things, like reading her mail and simply being there for some conversation.

Generally, when students volunteer after school at the McAuley Center, they are able to get back to school by 4 p.m. Both convenient and fun, this is a great way to grab a few extra MCAP hours, or just have a good time with the sisters and friends. If you would like more information on getting involved with Mercy Works next semester, contact Mrs. Judi Dennis or Mrs. Vicky Kowalski.
