“I’d rather be the corny white rapper than the drugged-mess who can’t even get out of his house,” said Mac Miller. “Overdosing is just not cool. You don’t go down history because you overdose. You just die.”

These words were spoken by Miller two years ago in a documentary. Yet Miller died from an alleged drug overdose on  September 7. Ariana Grande, Miller’s ex girlfriend, is now the object of hateful comments on social media from Miller’s fans.

“I feel bad for Grande,” said senior Abby Najor. “But they aren’t wrong about blaming her.”

Moments after his death, the hate comments got to the point where Grande had to disable her comments on Instagram.

“I think it’s extremely unfair,” said senior Tracy Ellison. “He was struggling with his own problems internally and people can’t put all the blame on Ariana.”

Grande and Miller began dating in 2016 but the two celebrities ended their relationship shortly before his death.

“It’s easy to have a scapegoat,” said Mercy teacher Ms. Robinet. “But it is just not right.”
