On Thursday September 12, the Mercy Varsity Swim team took on Divine Child at home, in the Deloris Yager pool. In the 12 events, Marlins ended with victory in 11.
The events are the same at every meet and include:
The 200 yard medley relay
The 200 yard freestyle
The 200 yard IM— which was won by Divine Child
The 50 yard freestyle
A 6 dive meet, which was held on Wednesday September 11
The 100 yard butterfly
The 100 yard freestyle
The 500 yard freestyle
The 200 yard freestyle relay
The 100 yard backstroke
The 100 yard breaststroke
The 400 yard freestyle relay
A highlight of the meet was the 100 yard breaststroke in the second heat, when senior and captain swimmer Katie Schwab was the first to finish.
Also, in the first heat of the 400 yard freestyle relay, Mercy swam against one another, with Minah Mahjoory starting off, followed by Liliana Sturgis and Julia Meyers, and finishing off strongly with Tanvi Thoutreddy.
The meet was an astounding success as the team prepares for a dual meet on Saturday September 14, against Ann Arbor Skyline, Notre Dame Prep, and Powers, at Waterford Kettering. MVSD continues to grow closer as they power through the season.
“We always end the meet with a chant,” senior swimmer and captain Sydney Meyer said. “Yesterday, our chant was, Taco Bell, Taco Bell, crunch wrap supreme, we think you are a mighty fine team, Go Marlins!”
