After a difficult first two sets, MVV made a comeback, winning the final three sets 25-21, 25-22, 15-12, making them state champions.
If one win wasn’t enough, not even an hour later, Mercy took home a second state championship after the Swim and Dive team dominated the meet, winning by more than 125 points, with a final score of 326. The second place team had 198 points. Senior Amylia Higgins, won her individual events, the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. The Marlins won the 200 freestyle relay and had athletes place in every other event. Junior Jenna Matigian placed sixth in diving and sophomore Sophia D’Orazio placed 15th.
These wins mark a historic season in Mercy Athletics as the Mercy Varsity Golf Team won the Division 2 title less than a month ago. Three championships in one season brings a new wave of school spirit to the Mercy community and hope of more wins in the future.
