March marked the beginning of high school spring sports. Obviously, the purpose of students’ involvement in a spring sport generally is to better oneself in a particular sport. Though, another joy related to the start of spring sports is the knowledge that the end of the school year is just around the corner.
Nevertheless, there are also some concerns and stresses that arise with students’ spring extracurricular commitments. There is still the expectation that students will be able to continue to receive exceptional grades, while hours of practices are added to their daily schedule. Some students may feel overwhelmed and find themselves staying up later to complete assignments.
Senior Sydney Edwards chose to give up participation in track and field this year, in order to focus on her grades. Although, she had been a member of the team since freshman year, she like many others still recognize that school should come first.
