Mercy hosted the Alumni breakfast on January 31st. Past Mercy girls came back to their old high school to tell the current seniors how they’re doing in their lives post high school.
“It’s so fun to be back,” Vice President of People Solutions and Mercy Alumni Alison Desmond Krumm said, “as much as so many things have changed, the halls look the same, and the building has the same welcoming feeling. It’s like coming back home in a way, and it’s just fun to be back and engage with the next group of soon to be alums…I graduated in 1997, so as someone pointed out to me yesterday, almost 28 years ago…We actually just had a great conversation about how it’s ok if you don’t know yet what you want to be when you grow up. Whatever you think it might be now, could totally evolve and change. It did for me, and that’s not a bad thing. It’s okay. You learn along the way, you find what works for you, and you grow it from there. Trust the process, take your next step as it works best for you, and see what comes of it, and just keep going. You’ve got a great foundation coming out of here.”
Seniors got to sit down with the past alums and ask questions, while also hearing the stories they had to tell. Some of the most loved advice was to not stress about knowing it all.
“It’s never too late to pivot and change your career, and you don’t have to have it all figured out right now,” Senior Marie Schueneman said.
Seniors were reassured about how ready they are for college.
“It’s really good to hear from past alums and past graduates to know what to expect when I’m going to college in a few months,” Maggie Geraghty said, “I’ve been learning a lot. They told me Mercy girls are really prepared for college requirements, academically especially, so it’s a lot of good advice.”
