On January 14, 2024 Mercy High School’s National Honor Society collected books from their members for their annual service project. This year, NHS members are donating books to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor to support Mott inpatients and their families. In addition to the books, members wrote kind notes to put inside the books, in hopes of giving kids words of encouragement and support. Books for elementary, middle, and high school grade levels were brought in.
NHS President, Jenna Matigian, speaks about the project, and the joy it inspires in the members. This project has taken a great deal of planning and preparation, but overall Matigian is happy with the time spent working on the service project for NHS.
“I knew NHS was all about service and that’s something I am passionate about,” senior Jenna Matigian said.
The book drive also gives other NHS members an opportunity to give back to the community through their own involvement in the Mercy NHS community.
“It’s nice to be involved with the school,” senior Olivia Wilhjelm said.
