On Tuesday students performed in Mercy’s annual Ethnic Bazar. Seven different performances took the stage: the Lithuanian dance, the Irish dance, the Middle Eastern dance, SASA Bollywood, BASE hip-hop, disco, and step.
“Ethnic Bazaar celebrates the uniqueness of each Mercy girl who participates and their culture,” Mrs. Traci Smith said.
Students were excited to show their hard work and display their culture. The Human Relations Council set up and planned this event to teach about cultural differences in the Mercy community.
“We come from over 60 different areas in the Metro Detroit area, yet we come together to celebrate the cultures reflected in our sisterhood as a community,” Smith said.
Overall Ethnic Bazar was a success.
“It’s important to embrace your identity and who you are and show that to your friends and school community,” Junior Bollywood dancer Chandu Koneru said.
