On Wednesday, April 10, Mercy High School held the annual National Honor Society induction ceremony. Mercy students from the class of 2025 must exemplify the values outlining the four pillars of NHS. These include scholarship, service, leadership and character. The application process for inductees included self evaluations, donations and service.
“I’m excited to serve the Mercy community,” junior NHS inductee Jada Roberts said.
Every inductee was enthusiastic about new opportunities and the ability to serve the Mercy community.
“I was so excited to see my fellow classmates there with me and it was cool to see what is going to happen next year,” junior NHS inductee Maggie Neumann said.
The ceremony took place in the Mercy auditorium and included speeches from current NHS officers and president Megan Windham. Six new officers were elected by their peers to lead the organization in the coming year, and during the ceremony, they participated in a candle lighting ceremony to highlight the values of NHS. In addition, newly elected President Jenna Matigian received the key from outgoing President Megan Windham.
“I’m feeling very very excited and blessed to become the new NHS President because I’m really excited to lead my school in service and I love my class so I’m glad that I’m able to represent them in a positive light,” Matigian said. “I’m really grateful to have Megan as a role model to follow and look up to.”
