Mercy’s French Honors Society hosted their annual Valentine’s bake sale this week, February 5th to February 8th. Members of FHS in 10th-12th grade bake desserts to be sold this week in efforts of raising money and immersing themselves more into French culture.
“I love French Honors Society because it gives us a chance to get to know French culture more, see it in the community, and increase my appreciation for the language I’m learning,” sophomore Macy McDaniel said.
Learning more about French Culture is important to many students enrolled in French classes, and that is mostly why French Honors Society has become what it is today.
”Being a part of French Honors Society really makes me feel like I’m immersing myself in French culture, and it makes me love the French language more,” McDaniel said.
“The French Honors Society meetings are kind of extravagant in food and activities,” FHS moderator Mrs. Missy Kreucher said. “We also give out lots of rewards, certificates, flowers; so some of this money that we are raising goes towards recognition of accomplishment, and it really helps the Honors Society.”
The prettily decorated desserts draw students to the bake sale and with the red and pink theme of this event, Valentine’s Day spirit generates excitement.
”We have gotten approval for the bake sale to happen on a similar week each year for a while now. It has become a tradition for the bake sale to happen around Valentine’s Day,” Kreucher said.
