On Thursday, November 16, Mercy High School held a pep rally in celebration of the Volleyball and the Swim and Dive teams going to their state championships. The Swim and Dive team’s state championship meet will be held on November 17-18 in Holland, Michigan. The Volleyball team will compete at the state championship on Friday, November 17, in Battle Creek, Michigan in hopes to advance to the finals on Saturday, November 18.
This will be the first trip to the state championship for the current players. Volleyball previously won states in 2019 so the players recognize the dedication and hard work they have put into the season thus far.
“I think it is an amazing opportunity to have this experience and to work and be alongside such talented girls and I can’t wait to see what the outcome will be,” senior volleyball player Mia Guss said.
The team is confident in their ability to bring home the championship.
“I am so very excited and proud of our team,” Flynn said. “I think we are going to kill it.”
The Swim and Dive team is competing in MHSAA Division 2 this year after finishing in seventh in Division 1 last year.
“I think the whole team is really excited, I’m excited that so many girls have the opportunity to go to this meet.” Sneyd said. “The energy is going to be really high, and if all of us focus on what we have to do for our team, then I think we can be really successful.”
