Although the change of name from “Faith on Fridays” to “Focus on Faith” seems fairly simple, it is a sign of how much has changed within the student run-bible study. Sensing a need for a change, six juniors have accepted the task of leading the club. Molly Schwalm, Amy Kravutske, Sierra Wangler, Christina Miracle, Paige Spender, and Jacqueline Welday are the new faces spearheading FOF, along with moderator Mrs. Lauren Marquardt, who teaches Latin.
As opposed to FOF meetings in previous years, now each Friday one of the student leaders presents a bible passage that she feels pertains to high schoolers’ lives today and she uses that to open a conversation.
Mrs. Marquardt had seen the attendance and interest in the bible study fizzle out over the past few years, but the student leaders hope that the new changes will improve attendance and participation.
“I think it is a lot more fun than last year,” said sophomore Phil Omena said. “There is better attendance, and more people are engaged in the conversation.”
