Fresh off of a district finals win, this week’s student spotlight shines over one of the varsity basketball captains, senior Alexa Bahoura.
Standing at a modest 5’10”, Bahoura is no stranger to the court. She has been a member of the varsity basketball team for two years, after being moved up when her first season on the junior varsity team ended. She learned the basics from watching basketball on TV with her father, and began playing for an intramural team in the third grade. Along the way, Bahoura has also taken up an interest in numerous other sports.
“Other than basketball and soccer for school, I also play football and volleyball” she said. “I used to play softball and tennis and I like to play golf for fun when I can. “
Bahoura enjoys a variety of other hobbies as well. She attends a church youth group and volunteers with the Chaldean Angels of Charity, a high school girl’s organization that participates in various activities once a month to better their community. She also likes spending time with her family and friends, and just hanging out.
“I love to eat. I eat at all times of the day” Bahoura shared. “I like to work out. I play the piano. I’ve been playing since I was five years old.”
Her dreams, however, do not contain basketball. Bahoura hopes to pursue a career in the medical field, specifically as a medical doctor, and wants to focus on academics, not sports, in college.
