Highly-acclaimed pop star and actress Lady Gaga confirmed earlier this month that her new album, entitled Chromatica, is set to release on April 10 of this year. This past week, the singer released a single from the album, “Stupid Love”, which came as a surprise and a delight to many loyal fans.

In an interview with Apple Music previewing her upcoming album release, Gaga explained the meaning of the album as it relates to her life.

“It’s about healing and it’s about bravery as well,” Gaga said. “When we talk about love I think it’s so important to include the fact that it requires a ton of bravery to love someone.”

This will be Gaga’s sixth studio album, but fans have long been hoping for new music from her since 2016’s Joanne. Despite the four-year gap between albums, Gaga has still been busy with her career. Most notably, Gaga made headlines with her performance alongside Bradley Cooper in the 2018 film A Star is Born, which was awarded several academy award nominations.

The nature of this album and her new single, according to critics, will be similar to the big and bold sounds she has put out since the early days of her career, but this time with a different type of pop music. Most of her music career has revolved around making superficial, cookie-cutter pop music, yet her new music is assumed by fans to be an interruption to this. Critics have dubbed her new single, “Stupid Love”, an echo of Madonna with a new sort of synthetic sound.

Gaga is working with Max Martin, an acclaimed producer and maker of many hits over the decades. She is also working alongside producers BloodPop and Tchami to hone in on her signature sound on an album fans hope will be the authentic Lady Gaga music they’ve been waiting to hear.
