Fox has just introduced a thrilling new show based on Washington Irving’s classic tale, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. In this modern interpretation, Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) is resurrected from dead, and wakes up two and a half centuries into the future, in a modern town named Sleepy Hollow. With a past shrouded in darkness and mystery, Ichabod races to unravel a secret dating back to the early 1800’s. Along with Ichabod’s resurrection comes that of the notorious Headless Horseman, who continues to terrorize the inhabitants of Sleepy Hollow.
The Monday night show, filled with action and adventure, is simply genius. With the help of Lieutenant Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie), Ichabod begins his search to untangle the mystery of why he was brought back.
Junior Lyndsay Archer found out about Sleepy Hollow while reading Essence magazine. Although she had not read the story, she really enjoyed the show, and thought it was fascinating.
“I really like that it’s a mash-up of two different time periods— present, and post-revolutionary war” said Archer. “I also like that it’s an interesting way to bring back the old ‘Legend of Sleepy Hollow’ in a way that’s mysterious and intriguing.”
Tom Mison’s portrayal of Ichabod Crane is very authentic; from his emotion when talking about his wife, to his charisma when he is with Abbie, his performance draws you to his character. Nicole Beharie is the strong-minded Lieutenant Abbie Mills, who unexpectedly becomes tied to Ichabod as they learn what fate has planned for them.
“The growing bond between them helps the audience to depict parts of the mystery before it’s played out on the screen,” said Archer. They both share so many different bonds and similarities that give the show a twist and an even more compelling addition to the ‘Legend of Sleepy Hollow.’ ”
Sleepy Hollow is an electrifying show that will have its viewers engrossed in the plot, and racing to solve the mysteries surrounding Sleepy Hollow along with Ichabod and Abbie.
