Coldplay released their much anticipated fifth studio album “Mylo Xyloto: on October 21 and have already had record-breaking sales. According to Nielsen SoundScan, a media research company, 447,000 copies were sold in the first week of the album being released.
“Mylo Xyloto” rocketed to the top of the American Billboard 200 chart Wednesday beating out other frontrunners like Adele and Michael Buble. this is the third consecutive album of Coldplay to debut at number 1.
“I’ve been listening to Coldplay for years,” said senior Audrey cords. “‘Mylo Xyloto’ did not disappoint. It’s been on repeat in my car since it came out!”
Coldplay’s new album has the same alternative rock feel as their other releases. Chris Martin, the lead singer, enchants his fans once again with a high range of vocals and meaningful lyrics.
The band also tweeted Wednesday: “Worldwide highest first week iTunes sales ever – of any artist #1 album in 21 countries so far. Coldplay fans rule the world.”
