Mercy Track and Field came in third Tuesday, May 21 at that Catholic League Finals. Coming in first was Regina, and second was Divine Child. The teams biggest competition has always been Regina.
“Regina has a really good team and a lot of really talented runners,” said the junior distance team captain Katelyn Toloff. “I think that when we race against them, it is really good practice and it makes us push ourselves harder.
The team had a total of four athletes place including Ogechi Nwaopara in the 400 meter, Elon Pendelton in discuss, Shelbi Hines & Dominque Jones in Shot Put, and Ally Eads in the Mile.
Ogechi Nwaopara came in 3rd place in the 400 meter race with a time of 1:00.87. Elon Pendelton threw discuss with a length of 96′ 4″ which gave her the first place spot. Also placing in discuss was Shelbi Hines who came in 3rd with a length of 92′ 7″.
In more events, Hayley Caddell and Dominque Jones both placed in shot put. Caddell came in 2nd place with a throwing length of 33′ 5″. Jones came right after in 3rd place 31′ 3″. In the mile distance race, Junior Allysen Eads came in 3rd place with a total of 5:36.09a.
Overall,the girls did amazing counties to push themselves to achieve greatness
