April marks the beginning of the final stretch for seniors making one of the biggest choices of their lives: where to go to college. The majority of colleges have released their acceptance or denial letters, but April 1st is the final deadline for many admission decisions. Colleges also require accepted students to submit a deposit by May 1.

Some students who have anxiously waited for news are ready, while others fear the reality of having to make such a monumental decision.

“It’s nerve-wracking,” said senior Cathy Lawrence. “It’s such a big decision.”

Although seniors have many options, weighing between the pros and cons has many confused and nervous.

“I’m terrified,” said senior Laure Bouret. “I’m afraid I will make the wrong decision but then I wonder, ‘is there a wrong decision?’ I know I will get a good education wherever I go.”

Not only has the stress of college spread throughout the senior class, but the anxiety is already spreading among  juniors.  Many have taken the ACT at least once and are now starting to plan which colleges they will apply to in only a matter of months.

“It’s making me freak out, seeing the seniors like this,” said junior Jaya Jankowski. “I can’t believe that will be me next year.”
