LINK crew hosted one of their last events, a coloring day, during school on Feb. 27. Freshmen girls were invited to stop by the south alcove to color printed sheets of popular characters with their LINK leaders.
The event was an effort to draw girls in for one of the final get-togethers for LINK crew, the last being the anti-slumber party. Easily accessible, all girls had to do was find some free time in their day to go to the coloring tables.
Freshmen stopped by and colored images from Frozen, Tangled, Finding Nemo, and other pop culture favorites. Once girls finished a page, they could hang them on the windows in the south alcove, creating a collage of lovingly colored and unique sheets. The coloring day was an easy way for the upperclassmen leaders to reconnect with the frosh as we enter the final months of the 2013-2014 school year.
Ninth grade counselor Mrs. Trish Brown also made an appearance, and allowed any non-LINK upperclassmen to participate as long as they brought a freshman along with them. A combination of the glitter crayons, princess pages, and Mrs. Brown’s infectious enthusiasm ensured that the table was never empty.
The previous friendship-bracelet-making-day’s popularity led to the event being planned. The day was given the theme “throwback Thursday” to reference the Lisa Frank and Disney pages that were so well-loved in middle-school years.
The next and last LINK event, the anti-slumber party, is March 6th.
