Members of the Mercy orchestra, directed by Mrs. Marianne Corrigan, performed Christmas music for the Sisters of Mercy at the McAuley Center in mid December. The orchestra students brightened the day of many elderly sisters by sharing their Christmas spirit.
“I have been looking forward to this event since last year,” said Mrs. Corrigan. “I thought the visit and the performance was a huge success.”
The orchestra teamed with Mercy Works to make the Christmas visit with the Sisters of Mercy gratifying. As the orchestra members played, members of Mercy Works led the sisters in Christmas carols.
After caroling, the students socialized with the sisters while enjoying lemonade and cookies. For those willing to listen closely, the sisters offer valuable life lessons.
“I thought that the sisters were amazed with the accompaniment of the instruments and enjoyed the sound,” said Mrs. Corrigan.
