Pausing the movie he was showing his 9th grade English students, Steve Morgan could barely hear the irregular 2nd hour announcement crackling over his classroom’s loudspeaker. He walked into the hallway hoping for some clarification and instead was met by President Cheryl Kreger, Principal Carolyn Witte, and Vice Principals Larry Baker and Colleen Rozman poised with their cameras, flowers, and many “Congratulations.”
Next rushed his students, and Morgan stood stunned with pens in his ears. He was named Mercy’s 2013 Teacher of the Year.
When asked his initial reaction, Morgan admitted, “I have nothing clever to say. It’s just unbelievable.”
Morgan will speak at Graduation on May 29th. A full interview with him will be available in the May edition of Newsprint.
