This Friday, the Mercy community gathered together after mass to celebrate the 2025 Heart of Mercy recipients. The 3 Heart of Mercy recipients, two students and one staff member, have been recognized by the Mercy community as individuals who live out the Mercy Core Values in their daily lives, and use their faith and their voice to help inspire others to do the same. The Heart of Mercy recipients this year were Jenna Matigian ‘25, Isabella Casab ‘25, and Mrs. Lisa Wilson, a Mercy science teacher.
The recipients are chosen as one of the Heart of Mercy winners based on submissions from students and staff members detailing the way Mercy values shape their everyday life.
“I feel really happy and loved,” Jenna Matigian said following the ceremony. “I am very overwhelmed but like a good overwhelmed. Not everything has settled in yet I don’t think.”
Matigian has been very active in the Mercy community, particting in Link Crew, NHS, the Class Officer Board, and the Mercy Dive team.
The other student recipient was Isabella Casab.
“I’m excited because this gives me a chance to explain that I do what I do because of the Mercy community and I wouldn’t be where I am without you guys,” Isabella Casab said.
Casab has spent her time at Mercy involved in the Mock Trial team, the student ministry team, Link Crew, and as a member of the Human Relations Council.
“I think they both really deserve it and I’m so happy for both of them,” senior Marta Meeham said.
The staff member recognized this year as the Heart of Mercy was Mrs. Lisa Wilson, a Honors Biology, AP Biology, and Genetics teacher.
“I’m really happy for Mrs. Wilson, she’s so deserving and all the other awardees who are also amazing people,” senior Grace de Klerk said.
The Heart of Mercy celebration is an honored tradition that gives the Mercy community the chance to celebrate each other, recognize hard working, faith driven members of the community, and commemorate the Mercy Core Values. The three awardees this year are all great examples of what it truly means to be a Heart of Mercy.
