The storm had cleared, the night was calm, and the dance was on. Students, dazzling from head to toe, strutted down a red carpet lined with velvet ropes into Mercy’s 2011 Homecoming. A photographer greeted the students at a Mercy-themed backdrop to capture their precious moment, and from there, students danced the night away.

Mercy’s Student Council was true to their theme, A Night at the Oscar’s, as they had their own award show on Friday night. Trophies were given out for the couples of the year. Senior Haleigh Guerin and her date Tanner won the Craziest Dancer award. Sophomore Shelbi Hines and her date Devin came in first for Best Dressed. Freshman Danya Ziazadeh and her date Steven won for Best Entrance, and the largest trophies were given to Sophomore Katelyn Toloff and her date Joey for Cutest Couple 2011.

Students enjoyed a fancy night out, red roses on the tables, dazzling lights, and refreshments.

“It was a classy twist on a classic dance,” said junior Molly O’Sullivan. “We were all superstars.”
