After a year of meetings, hard work, and fun, the year is coming to the close for the Business Professionals of America (BPA) with the election for next year’s board. Treasurer Ally Coklow reflects on her third year as a BPA member and her second year on the board.

“I ran last year because I love being involved and helping people whenever I can,” Coklow said. “I plan to run again this year to do the same.”

Coklow competed in Fundamental Accounting and Medical Procedures events at the Regional and State Conference as well as recieving the Statesman and Torch Awards for her involvement in the club. Throughout the year, Coklow spent hours planning meetings and activities. She also helped other members prepare for their events in addition to preparing for her own.

“I want to work harder,” said Coklow. “The National Conference is in Boston next year and I really want to go.”

In addition to working hard to better herself in her senior year, Coklow has plans to better Mercy’s BPA chapter.

“I want to invite more speakers and do more group activities. This can help the members gain more experience and learn valuable lessons,” explained Coklow.

Since her freshman year, BPA has been an important part of Coklow’s life for preparing her for her future career as a pediatrician.

“BPA is important to me because it teaches not only things about the business world, but how to apply it to real life,” Coklow said. “Learning how to make connections with people really helped me both inside and outside the club.”
