Ariana Grande brings a purr-fect performance to Joe Louis Arena
Taking the stage at the Joe Louis Arena on Saturday, March 7 Ariana Grande brought her huge voice and sported a pair of her signature cat ears.
The concert started promptly at 8:00 PM with an array music from the acclaimed DJ Cashmere Cat who was followed by a 30 minute set from the British boy band Rixton. Rixton was a great opening act, and they covered the hit “Uptown Funk” originally by Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson. Their upbeat sound and interactive lead singer had the crowd on their feet in no time.
Shortly after Rixton left the stage, Grande sang and danced to her latest song “Bang, Bang.” Although her sequin covered outfit and sky-high heels appeared constricting, they didn’t inhibit Grande from nailing both the notes and choreography.
Junior Alia Fuqua attended the concert and also had a chance to meet the Grande.
“The concert was absolutely amazing. Her voice sounds even better live than it does on her recordings,” said Fuqua. “Meeting her in person was a dream come true, and she was everything I expected and more and was extremely kind and welcoming.”
In addition to her diverse choreography, Grande also had a surprise performer: Big Sean. The Detroit-bred rapper is currently dating Grande and decided to come back to Detroit to surprise fans during the concert. He performed “Right there” and “Best Mistake” which are two of the songs he is featured on in her album My Everything.
