“Lin-sanity”

Lin-sanity

A young, unknown New York Knicks player has taken the NBA by storm over the last few weeks.  Jeremy Lin was pulled from a warm spot on the bench and thrust into the paint.  Up until a few weeks ago, Lin was an unknown.

He received no basketball scholarships out of high school and was undrafted when he graduated from Harvard in 2010.  After Lin graduated from Harvard he reached a partially guaranteed deal with the Golden State Warriors.  He was assigned to the NBA developmental league three times and then waived by the Warriors and the Houston Rockets before the New York Knicks picked him up during the 2011-2012 season.

After a series of injuries, New York Coach Mike D’Antonio, was desperate.  On February 4th, D’Antonio put Lin in during the 1st quarter against the New Jersey Jets.  By the end of that game, Lin had 25 points and seven assists, leading the Knicks to their ninth win.  He has started every game since.  Before Lin was starting, the Knicks were 8-15.  Since then, they have racked up 9 wins and just 3 loses and are now Eastern conference contenders.

At 6’3, Lin is one of very few Asians to have played in the NBA and the first of Chinese or Taiwanese decent.

It’s a real Linderella story.
