Tragedy in Ohio

Three students died Monday morning when classmate T.J. Lane shot 10 rounds at four students at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio.

“This is not about bullying, this is not about drugs,” said David, Joyce, the Geauga Country prosecutor in an interview with the New York Times. “This was an effect of one lone gunman.”

Lane admitted to the shooting but has yet to be charged. Joyce said that he expected Lane to be charged with three accounts of aggravated murder.

Nate Mueller, a student who sat with three of the victims, described Lane to ABC News as a quiet kid. “Freshman year he got into a goth phase and didn’t talk to that many people anymore. He never egged anybody on. He just went about his business.” Other students said that Lane was not bullied.

“I think that this situation is awful,” said Mercy junior Jacquelyn Murphy. “It’s scary how anyone can obtain a gun, especially a minor. Something like that could happen in our own community.”
