From resonant music that captivated students, to a Forensics piece that sent chills down the recent Fine Arts Assembly was certainly one students will remember.

Following this year’s theme of Alice in Wonderland, dream-like performances were put on by the Mercyaires, Glee, Orchestra, Forensics, and Poetry classes. Students spent months practicing for their events and finally, this assembly. Various pieces of art from several different classes were also showcased in videos. Finally, the cast of the spring musical Anything Goes advertised Mercy’s fall dance classes with a performance of the musical’s most popular number.

“I’ve played piano since I was 6, cello since I was 9, and I’ve been singing for forever,” senior Anna Julien said. “The [Glee song] was the one we performed in the festival. It was a conjoined piece. We rehearsed in class and right before the assembly.”

Theater department chair Ms. Anne Eddy made a unique addition to this year’s assembly by surprising the audience with a stage-combat flash mob featuring her theater production class.

“The sword fighting was my favorite,” senior Emma Greenleaf said. “I liked how it was interactive. If I wasn’t a senior, I’d really consider the [theater production] class.”
